Our new Year 7 Special bulletin in now on line. Read about the very exciting whole Year 7 trip to Go-Ape (Page 23) that we ran for our students in September. There are also features on Art, Design Technology, Computing, Science and French, plus hockey, netball, athletics and cricket.
We always talk about how many lunch time and after-school clubs we have on offer at Old Palace (Page 5) including the newly formed Eco Committee (Page 7), which is led by a dedicated team of Year 7 students. This year they are starting to work towards achieving an Eco-Schools Green Flag Award, which will help make Old Palace more eco-friendly.
Dance, Drama and Music are so important at Old Palace, and it was a pleasure to see how many Year 7 students had parts in our recent production of Jane Eyre (see Page 11). Last summer, our Year 7 & 8 dance students took part in a very memorable Celebration of Dance (Page 6). Meanwhile, so many Year 7 students are involved in music, whether that’s in one of the many different choirs or orchestras or, for any Music Award Holders, a workshop.
Finally, don’t forget to read A View From Year 7 on Page 24, where four of our new students write about their first few months at Old Palace. From feeling nervous and getting lost to finding the older students so helpful and welcoming, it’s great to see how quickly the girls have settled down and made new friends. As Gracie-Mae says: “There’s no need to worry about anything.”
