Mexican Dance Workshop: A Day of Cultural Celebration
The Year 6 children were abuzz with excitement as they arrived in vibrant Mexican costumes for the Mexican Dance Workshop. Olivia from Zest Workshop kicked off the event, giving a brief talk about the history of Mexico and the Mayan peoples.
After warm-up movements, Olivia taught the children a series of dance steps. They picked up the choreography quickly and were soon dancing in unison. She then divided them into groups, encouraging them to choreograph their own steps to traditional Mexican music.
The workshop concluded with a performance combining Olivia’s routine and the children’s original steps. The day was a resounding success, leaving the children with a deeper appreciation for Mexican culture and a sense of accomplishment.
